Today I am going to tell you about our French homeschooling cooking class in Nice, France …………….
So the day before we went to the market and we picked up all of our ingredients for our French cooking class! The next day we started to cook at around 2:00 and we finished eating at around 8:00, it took us almost all day! For our appetizer we made a Crustinie with apple, bacon and cheese. “YUM”. Then for our main we made Julia Child’s Beef Bourguignon which was delicious! Finally for desert we made an amazing Cherry Claquetti which we caramelized with a bit of sugar.
Everything was amazing and earlier that day we watched the movie Julia and Julia while having some crepes. Julia Child was one of the first female Chefs in that time just like Mamor was in Halifax. She was the one who mastered the dish Beef Bourguignon and lots of other dishes.
We all helped out in the kitchen which was lots of fun. Vea and I picked out some kids Champaign for dinner. We had our first dish and it was exquisitely delicious. I had about five of those. Then we had our Beef Bourguignon which took many hours to cook in the oven. Before putting the Beef Bourguignon in the oven we had to dry the beef and then seared it before putting it into the oven. It was really good but it was a little ‘Beefy’.
After all that amazing food it was time for our desert. Our desert was so easy to make it only took us five minutes. After the cake was in the oven for a bit it started to rise a lot and then it started to pop! I don’t think it turned out like it was supposed to – but it was delicious anyways. Vea and I decorated the plate with Nutella and chocolate shavings. The cake was a little weird, it was very ‘eggy’ but you always have to take another bite and that time it was really good with the chocolate. We were all so full and so happy with taste in our mouth that we all went to bed.
