Today I want to tell you about when I went to school in Norway with my friends. So I made some friends at gymnastics class that I went to. My cousin Benedikte was a coach there and asked if I wanted to go with her. I was a bit nervous going there by myself and everybody speaks norwegian. Benedikte helped me and came over to explain what we were doing next in english to me. That is were I met Tuva and Maren. Tuva asked if I could come to school with her.
So the next morning I had to wake up early in the morning. Tuva came to the door and we walked to school. In my bag I had a pair of clothes because we were having gym and a lunch. So we got to the school and we played for a bit then we went in the school and we went into the gym. We were doing gymnastics. After gym we all went back and all of the kids in the school after gym they shower. There was different rooms for boys and girls. I did not have a shower.
Then we went out side to play for a bit and came back in had lunch and then we went to another class. It was all in Norwegian. I listened and joined in on some drawings and things. It was only a half day at school that day. One day a week they only go to school until lunchtime. That was the day at school on my first day.
Then I came back and played with Tuva and Maren. The next day I also went to school with Tuva and Maren. Today was a full day at school. We had art and crafts, reading, lunch, free time, and Norwegian and English. For art and crafts we had to go out side and find some leaves to make animals. After you were done getting the leaves we did art where you can trace your hand and it would look like there is a hand under the paper but there was not. Then we came back to the house. It was a fun 2 days at the school.
Facts of the school:
- For school all they eat is sandwiches and fruit
- They take off their shoes and wear only socks in the classroom
- They start school at half past 8 and they end at 2:00
- Every Wednesday they have half a day at school
- There is no school bus so everybody walks or bikes
- The school that I went to goes up to grade 7 then they go to different schools
- They get a lot of homework sent home
- They keep all their stuff in their backpack so they bring their backpack into he classroom
Well that is it 4 now

Hi Vea, you are so lucky to be in Norway, my family are from there too, in the east in Sandefjord. My dad is Alf Nordahl Nielsen . Say hi to any Nielsen’s you meet, they might be my cousins!! Although we are all looking forward to having you back in school, it will be sad when your wonderful trip is over. Enjoy every moment. Today is Halloween, do they celebrate it there? Say hi to Kai for me. Mary
Hi Mary how are you. I really miss you. We were in Sandefjord a lot. My Uncle lives there. We have some family that is Nilsen just there is no E. I am looking forward to going back to Canadian school. I might go to school in Switzerland to. I made a friend there but she dose not speck any English but i think if she wants to bring me to school all the teachers can explain stuff to me in English. They do celebrate Halloween but it is different then what we do at home. We go trick treating and they had melted chocolate for there hot chocolate and they listen to music and some places have a barbecue. I will say hi to Kai for you.

I love the half-day idea! Did you know that here, in the Bridgewater area, some of the schools have a half-day every second Wednesday? I’m certain that you were valuable to the English teacher during her class!
Hi Vea, it was so nice to see you and rest of the family back i Norway again.
All the best for rest of the trip around in europe and a Big hug from Surjit and me.
