Today I am going to tell you about my week in Amsterdam with Mamor……………………………………….

The week started off by going to pick Mamor up at the airport. We took two trains from our place called Uitgeest to get to the airport. Then we looked around the airport for her baggage claim. It took us a while to find it because the airport is so big in Amsterdam. After getting ice cream we found her gate and we were a bit early so we waited. Then her flight came in and we were all so happy to see each other. When we got back we gave a tour of the house and then had some snacks which was so good.

The next day we spent walking around town and getting things for dinner. The stores gave us lots of samples. We all helped make dinner and what we had was amazing. It was a pan seared Northern Cod with a red wine sauce and some “non alcoholic” champaign. It was so good it melted in your mouth.

We went into Amsterdam the next day to go and see the Van Gogh museum. We were lucky to get in because as we were leaving the line was huge. It had three floors of his art and artist that he admired. Van Gogh produced over 2,100 pieces of art work in the last two years of his life. The way he painted back then was completely different, he painted in a way called expressionism while other painters were panting in a way called realism. One of my favourite paintings was the sunflowers. It was definatly a highlight of Amsterdam.  We walked around the city for a bit longer but then it started to rain when we got to the market so we headed home.

Thanksgiving day was amazing it was sunny and warm. We managed to order a turkey from the local butcher. We went for a nice bike ride with lunch and we found a soccer field and a game going on. We had lunch while watching half of the game then we played a game ourselfs. Mamor went in net and she was really good! We had to head home to get the turkey in the oven for dinner. We stopped on the way back to get some more “non-alcoholic” champaign for dinner. After the bird went into the oven we worked on the mash, sous (gravy), veggies, sweet potatoes and lots of other things. The dinner was so good and I got to carve the turkey. One of the best things on the table was the sous and the sweet potatoes and of course the turkey.

Over the last few days we did another bike ride and went to go see Anne Franks house. It was a long wait but we got in and it was amazing. They had still kept all of the house and the secret door, but they built a whole museum around it. They explained lots about the Jewish people and the war.

It was really nice to have Mamor with us for the week and we miss here already. That was our week in Amsterdam.
