Today I am going to tell you about our Thai cooking class ………… So it started off by them picking us up at our condo in a Sangtow, which is a small truck with a top and no back. On the way to the market we picked up four more people. We arrived at the market and they showed us a few of the things that we will be cooking with today then they said go look around for ten minutes and be back at the truck. We started to look around and we saw some strange things like frogs, pig heads, intestines and lots more.
Then we went back to the truck and we set out to the farm. When we arrived the teacher showed us their organic garden. We got to try and smell everything as we walked around. It was very interesting. Did you know, peppers that grow facing up are the hot and spicy ones but peppers that grow facing down are not too spicy. After that we all went to the table and we started to make our curry paste. I made the red curry and I put lots of hot peppers in it and the paste turned out great.
Then we went into the kitchen where the stoves were and we made our soup. We had our own stove and cutting board with a knife, I ended up making a Thai vegetable soup but the broth was a bit watery. The third thing we made was our curry, you would have to add lots of different sauces and a few vegetables. Then I made my kashu chicken, it was very good. The fifth thing I made was my pad thai kai, it took one minute to make and it was very easy and tasted amazing. But by that time we were all so full and was able to take a lot of the leftovers back with us.
Our final thing we made was mango sticky rice. We had some and it was so delicious and and very coconuty. We all made different things so it was fun to try the different dishes. It was an amazing day and at the end all I wanted to do was sleep.
That’s all 4 now.

Kai,
I love the photos of the food and the market, especially the ones with all of the signs. I look forward to your cooking something for us when you get back.
That truck that you took to the cooking school: did you have to pay, or did you just jump in and ride for free? What kind of trucks and cars to you see in that area?
And I am especially interested in what you saw at the elephant place, and what you learned about elephants. Maybe you could write a blog about that.
I’ll show your “Klog” to grandma as soon as she wakes up.
Love,
Gramps
Hi Grandpa
I can’t way’t too cook something for you. The truck we took belonged to the cooking school so it was free but they are used for taxies in the towns and you have to pay for them. There are mostly trucks and tuk tucks and regular cars. The elephants were amazing maybe I will write a blog on it.
Love you
Kai
