This is a place that our friend Katherine told us to do. Today we went to this place were you get to see Yellow Eyed Penguins!!! It was in Dunedin. When we got there they brought us in a room and told us about the penguins. He said that they are the worlds most endangered penguins. He also told us that they are very unsocial, their oldest penguin was 26 years old but they do not see any more that are that old but they can live from 5-26 years and they can lay 2 eggs per year. Then we had to take a bus to were we get to see them. It was about 5 minutes. While he was driving he said that they are very shy so we got to walk though bunkers. They are little tunnels under the ground with little peak hole to look out.
We walked a bit and saw the first penguin it was just laying there under a tree it was funny. While we were walking to our next penguin view he told us that they have 50,000 feathers. Wow that is a lot!! The second one that we saw was standing up and it was putting its mouth along the arm feathers and that is how they put oil on them so that the are water proof.
Then we went to a trail near the beach but not on the beach. We saw a penguin in the water playing in the waves!!! He said that he was looking for food and they eat fish and squid. It was so cool to see the yellow eyed penguins.

The Penguin Place, Dunedin New Zealand
I hope that you can see them some time if you come to New Zealand.
That is it 4 now.

Thanks for sharing that Vea! I thought penguins only lived in the snow and ice. I am learning so much from your travels.

Vea, I’m so glad you got to see the penguins! This was one of my favourite spots in New Zealand because you could get up close to them without disturbing them. Isn’t it a beautiful spot? Your picture of the beach is lovely and I like the one of you peeking through the bunker. 🙂 Thanks for the shout out in your Vlog, looking forward to reading more of your adventures.
Hi Katherine how are you? It was very cool to get that close to them. It was also one of my favourite places too. We saw a penguin come out of the water then changed his mind and went back in the water it was so funny
Never knew penguins were in the warm climate. Did you see any fly?

Hi Vea,
I didn’t know you could see penquins in New Zealand. So neat that you got to see them. We saw them in the Falkland Islands and also in Argentina when we were on a cruise back in 2005 that took us around Cape Horn. They are amazing creatures. Are you heading to Australia now?
The last time we were there was in 1972 and Reid & I lived at Harbord Beach, about 3 beaches north of Manly, which is across the water from downtown Sydney.
Hello to everyone, and what amazing travels you are doing!
Take care, Linda, Reid & Mary Larry (prr, prr – she is draped over my arm as I try to type this!)
Hi Reid and Linda how are you. I miss you. We are going to Australia now. In Australia we are staying in Sydney for 2 weeks. I did not know that you lived in Australia for a couple of years.
