Today I am going to tell you about all the places I have been mountain biking in New Zealand…

So far we have been to three amazing places for mountain biking. The first and the best in my opinion was down hill mountain biking in Queenstown, if you do not know what down hill mountain biking is it is going down a mountain with jumps and burms on a down hill mountain bike. The second best place was in Rotorua because it was one of the best places to go cross country mountain biking in the world. Then the third best place was in Wanaka the reason it was third was because we were biking on flat and graded trails but the views were amazing of the lake.

Lake Wanaka Mountain Bike Trail

The place I really want to tell you about is going to be Queenstown. So the day began with us renting our bikes and our gear, we could not find a bike that was small enough for Vea so just dad and I did the biking and mom and Vea went lugeing.

Our bikes were the nicest bikes we have ever ridden, they were made just for down hill mountain biking. The second thing we had to rent was full face helmets, shin guards, elbow pads and gloves. Then we were off to the gondola so it could take us to the top of the mountain.

It was weird being in a gondola line with no snow and snowboard. You would have to scan a card every time you went up the gondola for identification. When we got to the top we decided to start off with an easy run so we could get the feel of the bikes. The name of the first run we did was called Hamys track, it had a few jumps, drops and burms that I did.

Then the rest of our runs we went really fast almost 45 km. We found a new run that was our favourite at the end called Thunder Goat, it had steep parts, big jumps, drops and lots of burms witch were really fun. At the end of the day we had to return the bikes and the gear. It was defiantly the best mountain biking experience ever!!!

All 4 now!

I think I would really like that kind of biking too. All down hill and fast! I wonder where we can do that around here?

      Hi Marcia
I really enjoyed the mountain biking and I think William would have liked it to. The closet place place to do down hill mountain biking is in Quebec.

Awesome Kai! 45km an hour! You are brave! I love the picture of you coming around the corner – you look like a pro. Queenstown was such a fun spot – reminded Michael and I of Whistler because there is so much to do in the winter and the summer. When we were there, Michael went bungee jumping – I wasn’t brave enough – it was straight down into a canyon with a river below. What was your go pro footage like? Pretty cool I bet.

      Hi Katherine
45km is really fast and it feels faster when you are on the bike!It reminded me of whistler to, it was such a fun spot!! We watched some people at the same spot that Michael did the bungee jumping on the way to Queenstown. Mom and dad did not let me do the bungee jumping they said you have to wait tell you are 18!!
