Today I have two things to write about the Galapagos Islands and I am going to start off with snorkelling…

So the second day in Galapagos we went on a tour to a different island by boat. My favourite part of the tour was snorkelling and that is what I am going to talk about. The water was not the warmest but we all still went in to the water. There were so many fish the second you jumped into the water it was like you were getting hugged by twenty people at a time but they were fish! Another cool thing about the snorkelling was that the Sea Lions were about ten inches away from you. They were so fast under water and they were not scared of you which is really cool too! But the coolest thing to me was seeing a reef shark. It was not that big and it came close to us but it was not scared. None of the animals in Galapagos are scared of you which is really cool. The last thing about snorkelling is that we saw these huge sea turtles and it was the same with them you could swim over them or face to face with them, my dad and I when out a bit further and we saw a family of five sea turtles swimming around us! One of the things i learned from my dad was how to equalize out my ears when I went deep into the water, you have to plug your nose and blow out threw your nose and they will equalize out. That is all for snorkelling in the Galapagos!

For my second part of the Klog I am going to talk about what endemic means and about the marine Iguana. So do you know what endemic means? Well for example take the marine Iguana. The marine Iguana can only live and can only be found in the Galapagos, there for it is endemic to the Galapagos. So endemic means that it can only be found in the Galapagos no where els in the world can you find the marine Iguana. The next part of the Klog is the marine Iguana.

Marine Iquanas can be found all over the beaches in the Galapagos Islands!

The reason it is such a cool animal is because it spends half it’s time in the water. The marine Iguana can swim, it can dive under water  for nine meters and the biggest ones can go under water for 30 meters. They can also hold there breath for 45 minutes. They still have to stay in the sun for some time to because they are still cold blooded animals. The marine Iguana usually eats under water animals like algae but they can also eat plants on land.

All 4 now!
