Hi I just wanted to tell you a bit about Whistler……….. First of all we met up with our friends the Allen’s at the Vancouver airport and took a two hour bus ride to Whistler. When we got there we checked in to our room, it was a lot bigger then we thought. That day we did not snowboard but we went into the village Which was realy cool because of all the Olympic Rings and bobsleds!
The next day we got up early and got on the hill. The snow was great and it was sunny and warm so we wore our sweaters. The first run was through the park,it was an amazing park the jumps wear great and the rails where amazing, there was a small park and a big park, we started off in the small park and by the second day we where in the big park doing all the medium and large jumps and all the medium and some large rails. Jeremy, Isabell,Vea and I loved the park. We did not get that much snow but the snow was great and it was one off the Best snowboard trips I have ever been on because we were with our friends.
Another thing that was amazing about whistler was that the peak2peak Gondola. The first one we took had a glass bottom which was really cool to see how high we were. The peak2peak gondola holds three world records. The first is, worlds longest unspaported span for a lift , the second is worlds highest lift of its kind and the last is worlds longest continuous lift system. The total distance is 4.4km,the speed is 7.5 meters per second, how long it takes to get from black comb to whistler is 11 minuets ,the highest point is 436 meters, the number of towers on the lift is 4 two on each mountain, it took from spring 2007 to winter 2008 to build. So there are some facts about the peak2peak gondola and about my trip to whistler.
Thats all for now.

Sounds like a fun trip!! Happy Valentine’s Day!!!
Hey Kai. Thanks for the interesting post. I saved a step-by-step diagram of an Olympic style jump (centre spread in Globe & Mail) – stored in a cupboard in your room. Alexandra Duckworth made the cut in O trials this am. Wowie!!! – Heather xx
I enjoyed reading all the facts you shared about the lift. So… a math question:
If it takes 11 minutes from Black Comb to Whistler and the speed is 7.5 meters per second, how far is it (assuming no stops and a constant speed)?
Thanks for the question and sorry for the late reply,
Here is the answer 4950 meters or 4.9 km across.
How lucky are you? That looks amazing Kai!!!
Right on Kai. Good to see that your math brain is still working. Hope you’re enjoying the homeschooling.
