A few weeks before our departure we had a surprise 40th birthday party for Kari. Here real birthday is in February while we’re in Costa Rica – but this early birthday party was a way to celebrate with family and friends and also see everyone together before our trip. We decided to theme the party as ‘Wanderlust @ 40’ with a huge globe cake that was made by the talented team at Scanway Catering, and some fun wine labels Norrie designed that make use of inspirational travel quotes. It was a great party and reminded us how lucky we are to have such amazing friends and family.
I love the photo of you with your friend. It captures your wonderful ability to enjoy the moment and the ones you’re with. May you find many new friends on your journey and many “nows” to celebrate. I particularly resonate with “not all who wander are lost” and “a good traveler has no fixed plans and is not intent on arriving”. They fit with my “life as a pilgrimage” mode. Love to you all.

I am so fortunate to have had the opportunity to play soccer with Kari and was lucky enough to meet the whole family! Have a great year you guys! Traveling is a wonderful opportunity to see the world and to learn more about yourselves in the process! You make us Banshees proud! We will see you back on the pitch in 2015!
